Monologue of fallen leaves

        GZNU Sun Podcasts

Monologue of fallen leaves, written by Dream September 16, 2006.

Somebody asks the fallen leaves, “Who’s to blame for the end of your lives, the trees that abandoned you so coolly or the winds that pursued you so relentlessly?'’

“Neither,” say the leaves, shaking their heads with soft smiles on their faces.

They continue to express their ideas, “Have you heard of the old saying ‘the falling leaves settle on the roots’? It’s a kind of natural phenomenon. Just like life and death. No one has the power to choose. We leave the trees for the time being and come back the next year.

“Every year our lives are short. What we should do is do valuable things and put our limited lives into limitless service to nature. Although we are becoming old and can no longer beautify the environment, we can be covered by and mingle with the earth, contributing a slight power to the growth of the trees as best as we possibly can.

“So please never say that the trees give us up because we always just feel like we are going home. We give the trees our thanks. The wind also helps us with our expense-free trip, which broadens our horizon and helps us stick to our decisions.

“When we lie on the earth we enjoy the real flavor of nature,” the leaves whisper, their eyes gently closing.

Dream is an English major graduating in 2007.

Cell phones go missing all over campus

Cell phones go missing all over campus, written by Angela Chen April 5, 2006.

I’ve discovered that 20% of students' cell phones are stolen on the Guizhou Normal University campus by thieves. The identities of the thieves are not known.

“I put my cell phone in my bag and asked the student who sat opposite me to watch it while I went to the washroom. But when I returned, my bag had disappeared. The student said he didn’t know what had happened,” a girl from the Department of Foreign Languages said. A similar case happened on the playground. Even a teacher had the same experience. “I put my cell phone on the teacher’s desk and went out forgetting to take it. After 5 minutes, I returned and found it [had] disappeared!” the teacher said. I was told the police once caught a thief who was not a student.

The library of this university now has appliances to monitor the library. However, one library worker warned us: “Be Careful of Your cell phone, because the thieves are all around us.”
